First blog post: My story

Hi! My name is Heather Matanock and I’ve been quilting for 20 years now. It’s strange to type that number, because it definitely does not seem like it’s been that long. I’ve gone through many phases in my tastes and styles, but I have to say that the most recent has been my favorite so far! I love all the “modern” fabrics, with bright, crisp colors and graphic patterns. (Although I will always have a soft spot in my heart for a beautiful civil war reproduction and Japanese Dawaibo taupes.)

I’ve had access to a longarm quilting machine for the last 6 years or so, but it was living at my mother’s house quite a distance away, so I would only get to use it a few times a year. When I moved into my current house and took over the whole downstairs for my sewing room, my mother decided that it was taking up too much room in her sewing room and that she wasn’t really using it enough, the longarm came to live with me, and that is when things really started to get interesting. In 2017, I upgraded to the newest model of Tin Lizzy and really started to expand my skills.

I decided that it was time to start taking on customer quilts and we were off to the races!
